Mona Zaki’s Lawyer Reveals Details of Her Crisis Following Controversy Over Seizure of Her Funds

Al-Taj News – The lawyer of Egyptian actress Mona Zaki broke his silence to reveal the truth about what has recently been circulated in the media and on social media regarding the legal crisis involving the seizure of her apartment and funds against the backdrop of a real estate dispute.

Samer Fasih, the actress’s lawyer, issued a press statement explaining that the crisis began when the actress owned a residential apartment on Syria Street in the Mohandessin area of Giza, which she purchased from a real estate company.

He added that it was established in the fourth clause of the ownership contract that there was a registered mortgage in favor of the Egyptian Real Estate Bank against the selling company, not against the Egyptian star, with the company committed to repaying the mortgage and clearing the actress’s liability.

The lawyer noted that on January 25, 2023, Mona Zaki sold the apartment for 5 million Egyptian pounds, a price less than half its market value at the time, taking into consideration that the property was mortgaged, and in good faith to help the buyer and require the company to repay its debt to the bank, as stipulated in the seventh clause of the sale contract.

3.63 Million Egyptian Pounds

The statement added that the actress was later surprised when the buyer settled the debt owed to the Egyptian Real Estate Bank to release the mortgage without consulting her or informing her, which harmed the ongoing negotiations to require the company to make the repayment. It explained that the buyer also filed a lawsuit seeking to recover from the actress the amount he had paid.

The lawyer noted that an absentee judgment was issued in May 2025 ordering the actress to pay 3.63 million Egyptian pounds, the value of the mortgage, equivalent to approximately $71,000, while the court rejected claims for interest and compensation.

He stressed that Mona Zaki’s defense team challenged the judgment and the challenge was rejected, but it filed another appeal, which is still pending before the Court of Cassation.
